Why is this product labeled as a supplemental meal/treat?Updated 8 months ago

The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) and Federal Drug Administration (FDA) classify two groups of pet food – “Completely Balanced Foods” or “Treats”. Completely balanced foods must meet certain regulations, including a minimum content of specific nutrients. To meet that requirement, pet food will often contain additives, fillers and byproducts. We’ve chosen NOT to add these components to PPFC’s products (though we are only decimal points shy of meeting the complete and balanced requirements) and instead let you as a pet owner (in conjunction with your veterinarian) decide if additional supplementation is needed. The product has been through laboratory testing and meets the requirements for "guaranteed analysis" of crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber and moisture. Like humans, dogs and cats should eat a variety of foods each week. Our products offer the opportunity for pets to eat an array of meats and vegetables that may not be balanced per AAFCO for each feeding but over a weekly period allow you to provide your pet with a natural balanced diet.
