How long can I leave a dog meal out?Updated 7 months ago

The best way to treat our meals is just how you would treat your own food -- leftovers can go in the fridge for about a week, or they can be frozen to be thawed at a later date. Since our meals don't contain quick-spoiling ingredients like dairy, they are on the safer end of the spectrum when it comes to leaving dog food sitting out. Animals tend to have a much better ability to consume what we would otherwise deem questionable, (i.e.: drinking water from a puddle, getting food from the trash, eating their own poo...) but we still recommend trying to keep the food as fresh as you can to avoid the risk of an upset digestive track.

If you would like some tips to help encourage your dog to eat their meals in a more timely manner, here are some tricks that have worked for pet parents in the past:

  • If they have a preferred protein try starting with one of our meals containing that protein.
  •  Try warming the meal up in the microwave for a few seconds. The warmth helps to release those irresistible aromas, encouraging hesitant pups to dig in!
  •  Some dogs crave variety, while others prefer consistency. If your dog likes to switch things up, try rotating the types of meals, adding water, and occasionally warming the meals. If your dog seems to enjoy status quo, maybe keep a good stock of their favorite meal on hand.
