Many pet food companies use the term “by-product” on their labels, meaning it can consist of animal parts not used for human consumption, such as bones, organs, blood, fatty tissue and intestines. PPFC uses whole meat, 100% fit for human consumption from USDA-inspected facilities and the meat has passed inspection for human consumption. This is a very important question to ask pet food manufacturers. Meat is the first ingredient on our nutritional label, which means it has the highest percentage in the contents of the serving. We use organs such as heart and liver for their nutritional qualities in some of our dog meals, but their use is clearly labeled.
